Many times, when we look at really successful companies, we see the great product that launched their company to a new level. What gets lost in the shadows of success, are all of the little achievements and changes that were made over time to build the foundation for success. I recently was listening to Mel Robbins audio book discuss the importance of laying the little building blocks to build your success.
Achieving your goals and visions for your company is about making small changes now to move towards your goals. With small changes, if the results are not meeting the expected benchmarks, reevaluate the change or revert back to the original plan. Then reformulate the next step utilizing the knowledge gained from the failure.
I was recently reading an article about Steve Jobs. The astronomical success of Apple under Steve Jobs often outshines the challenges Steve transformed into opportunities. Jobs credits a calligraphy class he was able to attend, dropping out of college, to the design of the typography in the first Mac, influence the look of personal computers. After being fired from Apple in the 1980s, Jobs went on to found Pixar, the animation studio the revolutionized movie making. While Jobs faced many obstacles over his career, he took every chance to create a new opportunity and add another building block to his foundation.
